This shirt was made in 2019 in response to a hospital in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area sending a Black doula, Tamoyia Hashim, a cease and desist in response to her speaking out about harmful practices at the hospital. In response to Tamoyia's public concerns, the hospital called her speech "illegitimate" and threatened to sue her if she continued. With very few resources, Tamoyia was forced to comply. The #dontspeak campaign was created in response to Tamoyia being silenced. The campaign reached Black doulas across the nation. Now, the Don't Speak shirt is being sold here at The Liberated Birth.
